Eco-travel minus the Birkenstocks

The earth conscious yet style spoiled traveler in me is yearning to visit Venice Beach just to log some leisure time at these eco-friendly cottages.

Cottage Row

Karel J. Samsom and Cynthia Foster of Venice Beach, CA, spent nearly a year on their green, DIY project and came out of it with 3 beauties, the Eco Cottages - individually named "Papa Hemingway Cottage," "Aunt Zoe's Place," and "Le Bébé Cottage".

As different as the cottages are, they share many eco-sustainable details and features. They’re solar powered, the couches are made from recycled polyester, the beds have organic mattresses and linens and bathroom floors are made of wine corks.

Guests will find reclaimed Craftsman cottage windows, vintage stained-glass windows, farm sinks, kitchen Hoosiers, and
clawfoot tubs. Tech junkies won’t have to rough it; the cottages have a widescreen TV, a home theater system, an iPod doc and Wi-Fi.
